FAQS
Below is a list of Frequently Asked Questions that may assist you with your enquiry:
Is therapy confidential?
The law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and therapist. No information is disclosed without prior written permission from the client.
However, the following exceptions are required by law to this rule:
- Suspected child abuse or dependant adult or elder abuse. The therapist is required to report this immediately to the appropriate authorities.
- The therapist is required to notify the police if a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person.
- In the instance of the client intending to harm himself of herself, the therapist will make every effort to work with the individual to ensure their safety. However, if an individual does not cooperate, additional measures need to be taken.
Do you accept medical insurance and how does it work?
You will have to check the following with your medical aid prior to the start of therapy:
- What are my mental health benefits?
- What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
- How many therapy sessions does my plan cover?
- Is approval required from my primary care physician?
